“Which wine should I choose?” can be a difficult question – not because you do not know enough about wine, but because wine shops often organize their ranges very differently from the way we actually think when choosing a bottle.
You may not be looking specifically for Kékfrankos or Sauvignon Blanc. You may simply know that fish is on the menu, you need a wine for a gift, you are planning a barbecue with friends, or you feel like drinking something fresh and citrusy.
That is why we simplified the Gourmet Moments wine finder. You can still browse by grape variety, wine region or winery, but now you can also start with something much more familiar: food, occasion or taste.
Which wine goes with the food?
Food and wine pairing can sound like a complicated set of rules, but the basics are often quite simple. The intensity, acidity, sweetness, spice and texture of a dish all matter, and the sauce or cooking method can be just as important as whether you are serving meat or fish.
With the new Food Pairing filter, you do not need to browse through dozens of individual dishes.
If sea bass, salmon or prawns are on the menu, start with Fish & Seafood. From there it becomes much easier to find fresh, lively or aromatic white wines – while a richer grilled fish dish may even work with a lighter red. How the fish is prepared and what comes with it can make a real difference.

Looking for wine for a barbecue? You can start with Roast Meat & Game, but if the occasion matters more than the exact dish, Gather & Grill can get you to the right selection even faster.
Not sure which wine you want – only what kind of evening?
That is exactly why there is a separate Occasion filter.
A relaxed dinner on the terrace calls for a different kind of bottle than a birthday, a Christmas gift or a tasting where the whole point is to discover something new.
With groups such as Cozy Moments, Summer vibes, Gather & Grill, Special Evenings, Celebrate & Gift and Discover & Taste, you do not need to know the ideal grape variety or wine region in advance. Start with what you need the wine for.

A question like “which wine for a gift?” or “which wine for a barbecue?” can become a useful, relevant shortlist in just a few clicks.
Choose wine by taste
You may not be able to name your favourite grape variety. But you probably know whether you enjoy lighter, citrus-driven wines or prefer something richer and creamier.
That is what the Taste filter is designed for.
If you want something refreshing, start with Fresh & Light. If you enjoy expressive aromas and fruitier styles, try Fruity & Aromatic. For fuller whites there is Rich & Creamy, while red-wine drinkers can explore Soft & Silky or Spicy & Characterful.
The goal is not to make you learn another set of wine terms. Quite the opposite: start with what you already know about your own taste.
If you'd like to discover several styles at once – and enjoy better value – explore our carefully curated wine bundles.
There is no single “right” way to choose wine
One wine can be a good choice in several different situations. A fresh Sauvignon Blanc, for example, can work with lighter fish dishes, vegetables or starters; its lively acidity and citrusy, often herbaceous character make it flexible at the table.
The Gourmet Moments filters are not meant to create strict rules. They simply shorten the journey from the full range to a smaller group of wines that genuinely fit what you are looking for.
Next time you choose a bottle, try turning the usual process around. Instead of asking which grape variety you should buy, think about what you are eating, what the occasion is, or what kind of flavours you feel like drinking – and start there.
The Gourmet Moments wine finder will help you discover the bottles that fit.
