Hegymente Winery was founded in 2018 by Kinga Tóth and András Kovács in Gyöngyöspata, on the volcanic southern slopes of the Mátra wine region. In their small-batch red wines, Kékfrankos is joined by old Hungarian grape varieties such as Csókaszőlő, Laska and Tihanyi Kék, bringing these rare grapes back into focus.

The vineyards are farmed according to organic principles with low yields, while the wines are made from hand-harvested fruit, spontaneous fermentation and minimal intervention in the cellar.

Hegymente wines combine a deeply personal approach, an experimental spirit and the fresh, volcanic character of the Mátra. They are made for those who look for more than quality in a bottle — for a real story and something new to discover.
