Tasting Notes
Hoffmann's Chardonnay 2023 - Dry White Wine is a creamier-feeling Chardonnay that steps beyond the world of light whites with riper fruit, restrained barrel tones and a rounder texture. The alcohol is lower and the body more restrained than in 2021, yet something familiar remains: that salty-mineral, slightly serious mood. It is more for food than for casual conversation, though of course we will not prescribe that. Half of the wine was made in tank and half in used 500-litre French barrels, after which the two worlds met. The grapes ripened slowly but surely by mid-September. Perhaps it really is the terroir. It suits both.
